Returning Home

As I dip my toes into the cool and salty ocean
Feelings of peace and love wash over me
Bringing me the sense of joy I only know when I am here
The cold pebbles dig into my heels and I relish the coarse texture
Each stone I picture in my mind being washed in the cool waters
Such a simple pleasure
And as I stand here
My skin begins to drip and I feel my legs begin to sway
As my body becomes one
With the water below me
My hair becomes the waves flowing and frothing into
Glorious salty foam and my eyes
Tear and begin to drown the sorrows
I keep inside
My soul is cleansed and my heart is finally at home
I dive deeper and see sea green algae
Twirling around me
A rainbow of colors dance and twirl in the sunlight above
Wave’s crash creating a mighty roar
That rings true in my ears
The sound tingles through me and I once again lose
Myself to the sea
Slowly my breathing stops as my lungs fill
With saltiness of the water and the cold of
The pebbles
And finally my heart is at peace
My hair no longer flowing
But still is picked up by the waves
The rainbow colors seep into
My pale cold skin
As my bones become the sand beneath
I return to the sea
Just as it was meant to be
